Jonas didn't want to be the Receiver, he just want his childhood again, but he knew that he didn't have any choice.
Honas received good memories like a brithday party or visits in the museums.
That day, he asked the Giver what was his favourite memory. The Giver gave it to him. He was in a room with people, it was snowing outside and there were a tree with colors red and green. There were packages too. When Jonas opened his eyes, The Giver asked him what he perceived. Jonas answered: The Warmth, happiness and family and he didn't find the last word. He asked who were the old people and why weren't they in the house of the old. The Giver answered they were Grandparents. He explained to Jonas what it meant. Jonas understood, that when he became an adult, he would never see his parents again. The Giver told him that it was the memory of Love. When he came back home he asked his parents if they loved him. They explained him love was too generalized a word and he had to use enjoy or other words but not Love. Jonas didn't understand that, he wanted things to change.
On the next morning, he decided to not take his pills anymore.
