SUMMARY
The story of the chapter is at the ceremony. And the Elder gives the assignement. The next is Jonas' assignement. The Chief Elder says that Jonas has been selected but Jonas doesn't know what does it mean. The Chief says that Jonas is the Receiver of Memory.She explains to the Community and to Jonas what is the Receiver job: you always are alone,apart and you must have the four essential attribut: Intelligence, Integrity, Courage and Wisdom. The Chief Elder says Jonas has the three first but he hasn't acquired the last. Then there is an other quality : the capacity to see beyond( au-delà). Jonas doesn't really understand what it's passing now but thinks that's true.
At the End, all the people says: JONAS!JONAS!JONAS! and Jonas knew the community was accepting him and his new role.
